The MDX and RLX were two of the hybrid cars that Acura once carried in its portfolio.

The NSX supercar is currently the only electrified vehicle

offered by the Japanese luxury automaker, and it will be discontinued after 2022.

Acura will forgo future hybrid models in favour of fully electric vehicles because it recognises

that it still has ground to make up in the drive towards electrification.

The company's first electric vehicle (EV) will go on sale in 2024 and use the same Honda chassis as General Motors' Ultium platform.
